Trains against cars in the land of Heidy: a sustainable bargain!

One Swiss family out of 5 don’t own a car. This is what a Swiss study conducted by the Swiss Club without cars (CAS) has revealed. Around 30% have made a conscious choice to live without a car for ideological (ecological?) reasons. This choice is not only good for our environment but also for the purse: A Swiss family spends Sfr. 265.—in average per month for transportation against Sfr. 128.—for those who don’t own a car. In terms of public transportation, the Swiss are the world champions of train travels: in 2008 they have gobbled up 2103 km per person.
